Shine

Shine is the third studio record by my band Locus, released November 14th, 2009, and executive-produced by band member Kelvin Chu.

Shine contains five tracks, four of which contain new material. The remaining track is a b-side, a piano version of 向日葵 ("Sunflower"), which was originally considered for inclusion on our previous full-length release, Ambrosia (the Sky Syndication edit of the song was chosen instead due to the piano version being too similar to another cut on the Ambrosia album).

Jonas Brothers The Concert Experience (Extended Movie) DVD

jonas brother dvd 200.pngThree gushes of confetti-like stuff landed on a sea of sweaty hair. Instead of growling, they screamed and cried. Such was the emotion of teenage fans at the concert of the Jonas Brother in the movie, Jonas Brothers The Concert Experience.

I missed the 3D version of the movie when it was screened in the cinemas in Singapore. When I saw an advertisement on the coming release of the movie DVD, I marked the date – 7 July on my calendar and bought it right away on that day. Yes, I’m a JB fan.

And if I were to tell that to my peers, they probably would assume that I meant Johor Bahru, our love-hate neighbor across the causeway where locals enjoy shopping for cheap groceries. After all, who would’ve thought that a 36-year old guy who had two older boyfriends previously would be interested in some pubescent pop stars?

Jason and deMarco: Leading the Way to New Avenues in Music

159_jd_1_200a.pngIn the music industry, it is totally unheard of for two totally divergent genres such as Christian music and gay music to come together.  A song is either Christian or something that appeals to the gay community; they are fully exclusive of each other.  But with the music of Jason and deMarco, the lines between Christian music and gay music have become blurred.

Jason and deMarco are a singing duo composed of Jason Warner and deMarco DeCiccio. The two are also gay lovers. Their music speaks of love, freedom, peace and justice, which are ideals that are looked highly upon by the traditional Christian church.  But because of the special personal relationship between them, they have a special appeal to those in the gay community.

As an effort of self-promotion, I introduce my band Locus’ full-length album, Ambrosia, released earlier this month. Once again, we are a four-piece Vancouver-based pop band. Since late 2006, we have made appearances at several popular Vancouver venues, including Fabric, The Cellar, Tom Lee Music Hall for Supernova.com, and University of British Columbia for the popular annual Anime Evolution. We have also performed in support of The M.A.R.S. Project: Musicians Against Racism and Vancouver Pride.
